The Always and Never Lie – Master Trainer Laura

Life is hard sometimes…REALLY HARD…and it’s easy to forget that we are the captains of our own life. By that I mean, we determine how to turn the ship and the direction our ship is going…what is our destination?

Is it some beautiful exotic island with blue waters, white sand, and happy palm trees where we are blissfully doing nothing…or are we looking for adventure, mountains to climb, treasures to hunt, obstacles to overcome followed by glory of achievement.

While the first option is amazing for a little while, it lacks the luster of sailing the seas, or snorkling, or parasailing…doing the very things that ignite excitement in our inner beings…

The second brings us to a place of growth…it allows us to use our imagination, to trek out into the unknown and learn who we are and how strong we are…it isn’t until we are challenged that we actually see the glimmer of our strength and the possibilities ahead.

Imagine that the treasure we are actually hunting is the ability to see the opportunties available to us in our life…

I believe that the world teaches us to be less imaginative as we get older…to follow the rules, to not break the mold…I’ve seen it in my own life…

It was a cycle that I had fallen into…get the great 9 to 5 job, marry that stable person, have that child, go to work, come home, make dinner, watch tv, go to bed…repeat tomorrow and forever more…ahhhh! Did anyone else’s chest get tight…?

But that was the two lies I kept living in, day in and day out…the first, life was always and should always be this way because I was just a normal person…the second lie, was that things would never change because I was a normal person…

Do you see how ridiculous it sounds when I write it out…? That’s because it is ridiculous…it’s a load of crap…!

I realized this one day when I was doing in-home training with a client…the client just so happened to be the sister of (at that time) the current Mrs. South Carolina…

I admired her sister for being in the position that she was in and competing in the Miss America Pageant…it was amazing!

However, what I learned was that they were normal, everyday people doing extraordinary things… they were down-to-earth, helpful, loving, giving, and in all regards just fantastic people…

They had just made the decision to do something greater and even if they failed they would reap the benefits of just doing the commitment…

It’s the same in fitness…after this encounter, I set out on a new personal journey…

A journey of discovery of my true capabilities…

My first decision was to decide that I was good enough…sometimes that’s just as hard…I joined a couple of competitions one being a Figure Competition and the second being the Mrs. South Carolina Pageant…

I’m laughing over here, why? Just because I joined them didn’t mean I felt good enough…quite the opposite, in fact, but I was determined to embrace the journey…

During my first figure competition, I placed 5th…this was to be my second competition and I was facing this competition in the wake of my Binge Eating Disorder

I trained hard, and I ate a more balanced and less restrictive meal plan because I was terrified of conjuring up the binging again…

And it turned out okay…at this competition, I placed 2nd. I was proud of that competition…it was at least forward movement…

Following that was the Mrs. South Carolina Pageant…I was definitely in unchartered territory…

Literally, I had no idea what I was doing…and they chewed me up and spit me out…I was a total flop…!

But looking back, I loved it! It was one of the best experiences I could have had…I learned a lot…

I learned about makeup and tanning and other degrees of fitness…I learned about public speaking, interviewing, and how many people are going through terrible experiences that we have no idea about…

I became better connected…I saw how I could improve my life by looking at the lives of others making a real difference…I learned that there was more than the 9 to 5 or the small life I was living…

And that’s what I decided to add to Glamour Body Fitness…an experience not just for me…an experience for women to find their inner power or at least have the epiphany of a bigger life than they are currently living too!

How amazing would it be if you stepped out into an amazing life you had no idea existed…?

I wish that for you!
