I love looking at houses online and I’ve been known to just pop into an open house just because I happened to be driving by. I love to dream and see the potential in a home and what it could be. My curiosity of just periodically checking online is how we came to find our current home. While we are extremely happy where we are, there are just so many beautiful homes in and around Charleston, SC and I would love to show you a few that you can find on homes.com!
I have always loved the historic charm of downtown Charleston, SC. If you have ever visited, you’ll notice that there have been great strides to preserve much of the city’s history. Cobblestone streets, gas lanterns on porches, and homes that tell stories of a time when our country was just getting on her feet. To do any sort of modification or remodel of a home requires approval from the Charleston Historical Society.
I found a home located on Rutledge Boulevard that not only has historical charm but wouldn’t require the same amount of upkeep as the surrounding homes, which is a home buyers dream. The brick exterior, private drive, courtyard, and the fact that its steps away from the water makes me fall in love with this home. The square footage is not large, but the layout and flow utilize every space well. The hardwoods throughout the first floor and built-ins give the home loads of character. There are some things from a personal standpoint that I would want to change, but this home is a gem, and the price is amazing given the location.
Where we currently live is only a 15-minute drive to the beach, but I still have a goal of one day actually living at the beach. The next home I found on Hartnett Blvd on the Isle of Palms, is the mix of everything I want in a beach home without the hefty price tag.
The home’s exterior is adorable and the fact that its brick makes me happy because it means the maintenance won’t be as costly living so close to the salt air. The listing also states that it has hurricane windows which are a necessity since you are steps away from the ocean. And did you notice, it says kids playhouse, but I see “she shed!” The inside of the home is definitely well maintained but is pulling at my DIY heart. I see a ton of potential to turn this home into the coastal getaway of my dreams. Plenty of space for everyone, yet not too much to maintain. The backyard alone makes the home worthwhile with all the land you get with this sale. Perfect for entertaining or plenty of space for a private pool.
The last home that I found on Rivertowne Parkway is everything I think of when I think of modern Charleston. The double porches on the front and a screened porch on the back are perfect for lounging and entertaining. Steps inside the front door is a true open concept living space with updated decor and features making it turn key ready for the next owners. What I absolutely love is that the master doesn’t have a tub. I know that for some that may be a deal breaker, but for me it makes my heart happy. Three generous sized bedrooms and a loft area would be perfect for my family. This home is located in a golf course community, but not too far from the marsh and still minutes away from the ocean.
So there you have it, three very different homes that have pulled my heart in three different ways. The historic charmer, the beach getaway, and the golf course dream. Each one with their own set of perks to where they are located and what they offer. I loved that by using homes.com I was able to find these homes. I could see my family living in either one and being perfectly happy. I do have my favorite that I would move into now and I would love to hear which one you love too.
